From the Mother City, the team of 10 ladies representing the Western Province has many experienced team players.
Team captain, Eleanor de Kock, recently represented South Africa at the Elite Women’s level in Dordrecht at the European/African 2025 qualifying championships, where she won a silver medal as the team placed second in the final. No stranger to competition, she also boasts a few gold medals from previous World Champs.
Ex-Elite SA players are Jean Bester (SA under 24 ladies coach) and gold medal winner in Durban in 1996.
Samantha Kemp started playing when she was 16 and was the first SA under-19 ladies captain in 1994 when the New Zealand team toured South Africa. She also earned a bronze medal in 1997 as a member of the Trans-Tasman SA team and has played for the New Zealand Masters’ Women in Wellington at their regional competition (earning a bronze placing).
Emilie Rademeyer has also just returned from earning a silver medal for the SA Elite Ladies team in Holland. Her specialist position is forward and she has incredible speed on the puck.
We have three under-19 ladies in the team as well, namely Emma Koch, Lucia Loubser & Ali Bonaconsa.
We also have Rebecca Rademeyer and Leigh McGaughey, who have played for South Africa and in France, respectively.
And the newbie of the team is water-polo player Ashley van der Merwe.
