Lambula UWH is an Underwater Hockey association based in Luanda, Angola, which took part in the Durban international tournament with a delegation of 11 athletes.
The team included the active participation of its President, Laércio Cândido, who was part of the athletes’ roster, as well as the captain and head coach, Edward Fisher, responsible for the technical and sporting leadership of the group.
Lambula UWH has existed in Angola for eight years, having emerged through the initiative of its President, a pioneer in the introduction and development of the sport in the country. Initially, underwater hockey was shared among friends and gradually evolved into a sport that is currently in the process of being officially recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Throughout its journey, Lambula UWH has already participated in six editions of the international tournament held in South Africa. Despite the numerous challenges faced, the team remains strong, resilient, and determined to reach higher standards within the international underwater sports scene.
This is a sport that grows primarily through self-funding and sponsorships, sustained by the commitment, dedication, and spirit of sacrifice of its members.
More than just a team, Lambula UWH is a way of life.
